Two years after Chantelle Chetcuti was brutally stabbed in the head outside a bar in Żabbar, her alleged murderer is still out on bail – and his Facebook profile history indicated how his personal life went on uninterrupted after the gruesome murder.

And today, in the wake of increased attention to domestic violence in Malta following the murder of Bernice Cassar, he’s deleted his entire Facebook account.

Justin Borg is currently awaiting trial after pleading not guilty to murdering his 34-year-old ex-partner and the mother of his two daughters.

Lovin Malta sent Borg questions about his activity earlier today as rumours swirled that he had left Malta and was in Milan, Italy, breaking his bail conditions. However, his lawyer Franco Debono has clarified that he is currently in Malta.

The questions were sent shortly after he updated his Facebook profile picture to one of the comedic character Mr. Bean.

Less than an hour later, he deleted his entire profile.

Borg had handed himself in to the police covered in blood and with drugs on his person shortly after stabbing Chetcuti in the head.

The murder weapon, a knife, had remained stuck inside the victim’s head after the attack.

Chetcuti later succumbed to her injuries days later while receiving treatment in the hospital.

He was granted bail by Malta’s courts two years ago and has continued to post on social media. However, this changed today.

A look-back at Borg’s online activity since allegedly murdering his former partner shows how freely he’s lived his life.

In 2021, Borg uploaded a status promoting music events he was working on, saying he “can’t wait to get back again on track after COVID-19 restrictions are finished” while referring to working with international artists.

Back in 2021, he also uploaded photos in a snowy setting, but while this could be an old photo, it suggests that he may have gone abroad while he has an ongoing court case.

Lovin Malta has reached out to the Justice Ministry for an update on the case, however, the questions had not yet been answered at the time of publishing.

Do you think alleged murderers should be granted bail for years on end?
