Check Out This Thrift Pop-Up At Malta’s University With Proceeds Going To Horse Rescue NGO
Thrift pop-up Malta is currently holding an exciting event at Malta’s University KSU common room, making it a great opportunity for people to check out some thrift goods.
Having kicked off yesterday, the pop-up shop is going on until today from 11am until 5pm, featuring a number of stalls to choose from.
“Fran Valletta and I started this last year at the end of summer with the intention of just getting rid of clothes and giving the money to charity. Mostly because Depop in malta isn’t too good and active,” Fran Falzon told Lovin Malta.
“It became bigger each time and now we’re on our 5th one with 12 local brands taking part,” she expressed.
“All the money made from clothes sales and a percentage of the local brands’ sales all go to a chosen animal charity. This time we chose RMJ’s horse rescue,” she explained.
“We source our clothes by asking for clothes donations from our followers, friends, and anyone who would be interested. We make absolutely no profit out of this, if anything we use personal money to drive around, buy necessary items to set up, and more.”
Their main aims with these thrift pop-up shops are to; decrease the stigma there is in Malta with second-hand clothes, to raise money for animals, and to allow the local brands to gain as much exposure as possible.
“Clothes that do not sell are not thrown away but they are donated to Building Bridges, which is another charity which has just opened a second-hand shop,” she said.
