Chef Crafts Maltese Menu From 1798 To Celebrate 60 Years Of Independence
Ambassador of the Malta’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, Francesca Camilleri Vettiger, hosted a Reception in Strasbourg featuring delicious Maltese dishes dating back to 1798 to celebrate Malta’s 60th Anniversary of Independence.
Camilleri delivered a speech at the evening reception on 24th September, detailing Malta’s rich history and its political and cultural developments through time, to an audience of around 180 guests, including dignitaries, honorary consuls and the French-Maltese community.
The venue saw live entertainment from our national choir, KorMalta, performing a setlist featuring the Maltese and Marseillaise anthems, as well as classic Maltese tracks like the iconic “Xemx” and ‘Kemm hu Sabiħ’.
The attendees were treated to a historic journey through traditional cuisine from the time our nation was under French Rule. Prepared by Taste History chef Malcolm Baldacchino, the lineup featured Ross il-Forn, Bakkaljaw, Rabbit and an array of Maltese cheeses. Accompanying the treats were a fine selection of classic Maltese beverages ranging from delicious wines to the classic Kinnie.
Well done to Ambassador Camilleri for hosting such a marvellous occasion in commemoration for our nation’s history.
