Christian Vella’s cousin, Chantelle Mifsud, took to social media to confirm that the autopsy revealed her cousin passed away “away from addiction,” clearing up any misconceptions surrounding his death.

Christian, who was employed by Caritas Malta, had previously sought the organisation’s support to overcome his own struggles with drug addiction. In the wake of his sudden passing, messages of sympathy poured in from friends, colleagues, and loved ones. However, some insensitive comments also emerged, sparking emotional reactions from those who were closest to him.

Vella’s colleague, Andrew Azzopardi, shared his grief on social media, emphasising that while the shock of the situation may have led to some misjudged remarks, they were a reflection of how deeply loved Chris was by the community.

A public celebration of Christian Vella’s life was held earlier with the coffin taken to San Blas to given his final farewell from the residents.Following advice from a vet, Christian’s beloved dog, Shiva, was brought to the coffin to provide her with some sense of closure.

Despite her typically energetic nature, Shiva lay silently in front of the coffin, refusing to move, in a deeply emotional moment of mourning.

Lovin Malta extends its heartfelt condolences to Christian’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
