Controversial Bus Stop Ad In Mosta Sparks Debate Over Migrant Return Aid

An advertisement which seemingly encourages migrants to return to their home countries has appeared at a bus stop in Mosta leading to debates whether the ad is appropriate.

Funded by the Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund (AMIF) and launched by Fondi.eu, the ad features a man with the text “I Miss Home! I want to return to my country” alongside “We can help you.”

It includes a QR code and contact details that direct users to the Facebook page of Voluntary Return Malta, a platform offering assistance with Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration for migrants in Malta.

The ad’s photo, which circulated on the Expats Malta Facebook group, has stirred varied reactions, with some saying this is a polite way of telling migrants to go back to their country.
