Alejandro Brincat, the 25-year-old who tragically died in a road accident earlier this week, was driving a car that hit a 13-year-old cyclist in December, the Times of Malta confirmed.

Brincat died after losing control of a Mercedes and crashing into a signpost and a tree on Triq Mdina, Attard. He was a father of two and talented footballer with an outpour of tributes honouring life soon after the unfortunate news began circulating.

Police and government sources confirmed to Times of Malta that Brincat was the driver of a Ford B Max that grievously injured a 13-year-old girl on 22nd December Triq Sir Philip Pullicino, Mtarfa. The girl was treated by a medical team on site before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

The Ford B Max was seized by authorities after the incident however it is unclear whether his license was also taken following the crash.

The moments leading up to this incident are as of yet unknown.

Dashcam footage seen by Lovin Malta and taken on the night of the fatal accident shows the Mercedes speeding with Brincat losing control, hitting the barrier and crashing into a signpost.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia has opened an inquiry however it is unlikely that the conclusions will be published.
