An elderly man is at risk of dying after being involved in a horrific crash with a BMW in Marsaskala earlier today.

The incident occurred at around 11.30am along Triq id-Daħla ta’ San Tumas, Marsaskala, police said. 

The Toyota Aygo, driven by a 71-year-old resident of Marsaskala, collided with a BMW 120, driven by a 20-year-old man from Marsaskala. During the crash, a parked Mazda Demio was also hit by one of the vehicles.

Members from the Civil Protection Department and a medical team were called on-site to assist.

An ambulance immediately transported the 71-year-old man to Mater Dei Hospital, to receive care for his injuries. Meanwhile, the BMW driver was not injured.

Magistrate Lara Lanfranco is leading an inquiry, while police investigations are still ongoing.
