Exclusive: Identity Racket – Man Arrested In Connection With Thousands Of Fake Rental Agreements
One of the alleged key players involved in the major identity cards racket has been arrested this earlier morning and is set to be arraigned later on today.
He was allegedly arrested in connection with thousands of fake rental agreements and money laundering, according to reliable sources.
This official action is likely the result of an inquiry prompted by lawyer and former PN MP Jason Azzopardi who exposed the racket earlier this year, saying this generated an estimated €60 million for those involved.
Azzopardi had alleged that an identity fraud racket began in 2015 and involved officials of Identità Malta who benefitted by issuing fraudulent ID cards.
This is a developing story.
