Maltese ultra-athlete Fabio Spiteri has done what no one from the island has done before, he’s made it onto the podium at a World Cup IUTA Ultra event, placing 2nd overall and 1st in the Over 50s category.

Fabio is now officially the first Maltese athlete to ever podium at this gruelling race. And when we say gruelling, we mean it, we’re talking 10 full Ironman distances, completed back-to-back in under 10 days. That’s 38km of swimming, 1,800km on a bike, and a 422km run. No breaks.

Just sheer determination and next-level endurance.Fabio crossed the finish line in 233 hours and 39 minutes, over 31 hours faster than his previous record. The man isn’t just competing with others. He’s constantly smashing his own limits.

But it’s not just about records or titles for Fabio. He’s doing it with a purpose. As part of this challenge, he’s fundraising €100,000 for animal shelters across Malta and Gozo, helping out the countless volunteers and furry friends who desperately need support.

Congratulations Fabio, Well done hero!
