Għargħur Man Accused Of Stabbing Mother And Aunt In 2018 Found To Be Legally Insane

Kevin Micallef, the man accused of stabbing his own mother and aunt to death in 2018, has been found to have been legally insane at the time of the double murder.
Micallef allegedly stabbed his mother and aunt, Antonia Micallef and Maria Carmela Fenech, to death in their Għargħur family home back in July 2018. He later filed an application pleading insanity at the time the crime was committed, which was still pending to this day.
This week, a jury decided that Micallef, who is now 47 years old, was legally insane at the time of the murder.
At the time of the murder, Micallef was convinced that his mother and aunt were trying to poison him and that they were trying to turn his wife against him.
Following the murder, a number of psychiatrists claimed that Micallef often suffered from psychosis due to a hereditary genetic disorder that Micallef was diagnosed with – Huntington’s disease.
