‘Good Afternoon’: Bjorn Formosa Shares Hospitalisation Update
Beloved ALS Malta activist Bjorn Formosa is back in hospital, posting a photo on Facebook simply captioned “Good afternoon”, relating to his hospitalisation which took place two days ago.
In a recent interview with Lovin Malta, Bjorn shared details about his experience with ALS, and how he has now lost the ability to speak, using an eye-tracking device and having his voice artificially recreated in English after painstakingly inputting his words, sometimes one letter at a time.
Just last night, Bjorn shared his personal thoughts on the most difficult part of the day, sleep.
“Unfortunately, since I do not move any muscle, the night is long and tiring. The respective carers move me every couple of hours, because if not, my body will get tired in the same spot,” he said.
This does not stop Bjorn, however, who has been planning ALS Malta’s next telethon, Sal-Aħħar Nifs, which will take place on 22nd September.
“Obstacles? You name them, we’ve had them all. But nothing is going to stop me from carrying on working until the last breath,” he stated in the interview.
Lovin Malta wishes Bjorn a speedy recovery!
