Local Artist Hearts Beating In Time Returns With New Dreamy Single ‘Sky Turn Pink’
Local performing artist and musician behind Hearts Beating in Time has just released a new dreamy single titled Sky Turn Pink.
The aurally aesthetic track follows Rebecca Theuma and her stylistic repertoire with a distinct and captivating retro sound, the voice behind HBIT.
Rebecca’s style has remained unmistakably discernible from one album to the next; from one single to the next.
Moreover, she remains forever true to her reputation of being a “hopeless romantic”; her singles are mini love stories; painfully, yet beautifully nostalgic, only accentuated by the seemingly retro sound.
Her tracks are love letters that she sends out into the world against a backdrop of layered, synth sounds which transport you into an alternate time and dimension.
Produced at Insynk Collective – an audio collective based in Malta; this track is the first single from a series of songs HBIT shall be releasing over the coming months, and throughout 2023.
In the past, Rebecca has collaborated with various artists in the field, including experimental photographer Ritty Tacsum, in the creation of her Death is Cancelled video.
What is certain, is that each release always promises to be a visual treat that plays into the vibes and qualities that are so synonymous with her sound and brand.
On this occasion, the Sky Turn Pink video was directed by Michael Azzopardi and shot by Neo Borg Bonaci.
Despite the distant city lights, the video has an outwardly, quasi extra-terrestrial ‘feel’, wherein Rebecca finds herself alone, singing and dancing in a desolate trailer park in Ħal Far; almost reminiscent of ritualistic invocation.
Shot completely after dark, the mood is mysterious, yet highly suggestive through strong plays of shadow and silhouette.
There is a sense of expectation for the break of sunrise that builds through the three-minute video; one that leaves viewers unsatisfied.
Rebecca has been active in the music scene in Malta for well over a decade, having been a band member with Stolen Creep as well as Bark Bark Disco, with whom she still collaborates.
Going solo, a little over four years ago, Rebecca has been living and working between Malta and Berlin, producing and playing electronic music as a solo artist.
Last November, she released her second solo album, Songs for Girls on the record label Reckless Yes (UK).
