Heavily Decomposed Body Found In The Sea By Valletta’s St Elmo

A dead body in an advanced state of decomposition was pulled out of the sea by Fort St Elmo, Valletta.

The body was spotted at around 6.15am this morning, along the Foss Tal-Belt area, police have confirmed. 

Members from the Armed Forces of Malta aided in the mission to bring the body out of the water this morning.

The body has not yet been identified due to the advanced state of decomposition. An autopsy on the corpse to determine the cause of death is set to take place shortly.

During the latest storm, a 42-year-old Finnish man fell into the sea in the same area, and he has not yet been found.

Magistrate Charmaine Galea is leading an inquiry while autopsy results are awaited. Police investigations are still ongoing.
