Hundreds Gather In St. Julians To Mourn The Loss Of Jean Paul Busuttil

Hundreds of mourners gathered at St Julian’s Parish Church today to pay tribute to Jean Paul Busuttil, the businessman and devoted family man who was tragically killed in a road rage incident near Bidnija last Sunday.
In a touching homily, Fr Stefan Attard described Busuttil, the Chairman and Executive Director of Luxury Living Technologies, as a “larger‑than‑life” figure, remembered for his warmth and vitality. “He was a gentle, jolly giant with such a friendly smile,” Fr Attard shared, recalling their friendship dating back to their school days at De La Salle College. “When he believed in something, he’d have no doubts. When he did not know something, he would spend all night reading about it till he learned all he needed to learn.”
Beyond his entrepreneurial spirit, Busuttil was deeply devoted to his family. Fr Attard paid special tribute to his wife, Mirjam, noting that “he was truly blessed to have been married to you,” and praised their daughter Sophie’s respect for her father, saying she called him “a teacher”, a touching testament in today’s world.
Busuttil’s love for cooking and fishing also came up, painting a picture of a man who cherished life’s simple joys, gathering friends at his home each weekend.
The grieving family’s response to the tragedy stirred strong emotions in the church. Fr Attard expressed deep admiration: “Despite this terrible tragedy that left your hearts deeply wounded, you are not allowing hatred or revenge to take over… Maybe it is because you would rather focus on Jean Paul and the good man he was.”
As attendees left the service, many echoed the sentiment that Jean Paul Busuttil truly embodied being “larger than life.” His kindness, determination, and love left a lasting, inspirational legacy for all who knew him.
Rest in peace Jean Paul, your kindness will not be forgotten.
