‘It Broke My Heart’: Ginger Cat Found Dead In A Box In Mosta

A ginger cat was found dead in a cardboard box earlier this morning in Mosta.
The cat was discovered by a man who was walking his dog along Vjal Ragusa, Mosta, in the early hours of the day.
A graphic photo sent to Lovin Malta shows the ginger feline stuffed in a cardboard box with blood smeared on the sides of it. The unblurred photo can be found in Lovin Malta’s Instagram post, embedded below.
“It absolutely broke my heart. I encountered it while I was walking my dog,” the man told Lovin Malta.
A police report has been filed and the Mosta Local Council has been notified to take care of removing the cat’s body from the public space.
It is unclear whether the cat was run over or killed with malicious intent.
A local cat fosterer who was notified about the ordeal has also offered to cover the costs of an autopsy, to determine what caused the cat’s death.
This is not the first time that stray animals have been dead killed on the street, with a previous case in Mqabba seeing a friendly stray cat captured, killed, and left in a cardboard box.
Mosta was also at the centre of an incredibly shocking case a few years back, where cats were being found crucified and hung to the facade of a local chapel.
