Ivan Bartolo Claims €20,000 Was Spent On A 30-Minute Event By Mosta Local Council
PN MP Ivan Bartolo has claimed that €20,000 was spent by the Mosta Local Council on a half-hour activity to commemorate the twinning with Millbrae.
During yesterday’s parliamentary update, Bartolo referred to an activity that took place last Tuesday, to commemorate the twinning with Millbrae, and claimed that for this half-hour activity, €20,000 was spent.
“Today’s occasion is symbolic in that it relates to the twinning of Mosta with Millbrae in California, two cities that are geographically so distant apart,” the Mosta Local Council shared on social media in relation to the event.
During the event, an olive tree was planted as a symbol of peace and friendship among nations.
“This secular olive tree will remind us that peace will always be sustained through understanding and accepting diverse thoughts and beliefs,” it said.
Ivan Bartolo also listed points related to the locality of Mosta and referred to the residents who are going through great suffering and inconvenience, especially the residents in the area of the ongoing project who are faced daily with dust, odours and exposed noise, as well as for the security of their property.
He mentioned the residents of Triq il-Kbira in Mosta and lamented how one cannot imagine what they are going through with nailing work behind their doors.
Bartolo has also asked if these works are covered by the contractor’s insurance together with Infrastructure Malta, and whether any damage caused by these works will be covered.
During the evening update, Bartolo also presented photos of another main street in Mosta, which he compared to a street in a third world country. He personally met with the three elderly people who had been hospitalised in the last two months because they fell on the road in Mosta.
He also referred to a German woman who had also fallen in Mosta and who had been awarded €40,000 in compensation, while the elderly Mostin was buried in hospital.
Bartolo concluded the update by questioning where the priorities lay in the Mosta community.
