Following the recent passing of firefighter Joseph Zammit, the Civil Protection Department has announced the funeral date.
The CPD have confirmed that Zammit’s funeral will be held at Birżebbuġa Parish Church at 2pm, as well as a funeral mass at 2:30pm.
The 48-year-old hero passed away on Sunday evening after extinguishing a grass fire in Pembroke.
Despite the fire being put out and contained, Zammit developed health issues and lost consciousness. He passed away shortly after arriving at Mater Dei.
In the days following his tragic death, a number of videos showing Zammit’s heroic acts over the years – and even an interview where he passionately talked about his selfless job – went viral again, with an outpouring of tributes remembering the 48-year-old Maltese hero.
Joseph was a husband and father of two and was an active member in his community.
