‘Justice For Chris And Ivor’: Three Years Have Passed Since Sliema Double Murder

Today marks three years since the brutal Sliema double murder which claimed the lives of the well-respected and loved Chris Pandolfino and Ivor Maciejowski.

On 18th August 2020, Chris and Ivor were brutally murdered in a suspected robbery in their Sliema home on Locker Street. Chris and Ivor had been together for years and were reportedly out for supper with their family before the fatal shooting.

Three men have since been charged with the murder; Jesper Kristiansen, Daniel Muka and Viktor Dragomanski, however, the court case is far from being concluded.

They were repeatedly denied bail, and earlier this year, Muka claimed the state breached his rights by failing to introduce electronic tagging as an alternative to detention.

Today, the public is reminded that the sensitive court case which has already spanned over three years is still ongoing, as the victims’ family members and loved ones remain in the dark.

“Justice prolonged is justice denied,” one of his cousins wrote on social media earlier today.

“Three years today, never a day goes by that you’re not missed my dear Christian. Always in my heart,” another one wrote. “Justice still hasn’t been served.”

The case has continued to raise serious concerns on Malta’s justice system and the present delays, especially given that Muka was out on bail at the time of Chris and Ivor’s murder.

Muka had been granted bail after the attempted murder of three police officers and a €300,o00 jewellery heist because of the 20-month limit.

As the case has already dragged on significantly, it’s unclear when a resolve will be reached, as Chris and Ivor’s family express that they can only hope it will lead to imprisonment and justice delivered.

What do you make of these delays?
