Kordin Collapse Worker ‘Survived By Grabbing Pump’ As Developer’s Uncle Revealed To Be Involved In Forged Signature
The five people being charged with the involuntary homicide of Jean Paul Sofia as well as injuring five other people appeared in court today where certain crucial pieces of information were revealed.
At around 11am, it came to light that one of the workers on site at the time of the collapse had felt the building give way, and survived by desperately grabbing onto the cement pump.
Thankfully, he emerged unscathed and managed to slide down to safety, as reported by Times of Malta.
However, the surviving worker is not the only relevant tidbit of information revealed in court earlier today. It turns out that stonemason John Muscat’s signature, featured on the Kordin project’s commencement notice, was revealed to be forged – as Muscat himself admitted to the police.
The inspector told the court that a handwriting expert concluded that the forged signature was most likely created by Matthew Schembri, one of the accused, who also happens to be Muscat’s nephew.
