LESA Finally Granted Right To Enforce Local Councils’ Parking Permits
The Local Enforcement Agency (LESA) has now been officially granted the right to enforce local councils’ parking permits.
This comes after the recent publication of a legal notice, following months of uncertainty on which local authority should enforce such permits.
The right to issue tow zone signs has also been extended, with applicants being able to display them after obtaining a permit from the local council.
The legal notice was issued mere days after a parliamentary question tabled by PN MP Mark Anthony Sammut, with the Minister responding with details of a new legal notice to be released in the coming days.
As it was, citizens were paying for the permit, only to then have cars park in the spaces anyway, with no authorities or government agencies taking responsibility for enforcement.
Last week, popular radio host Valentina Rossi spoke out on the ordeal, as the ongoing saga has affected citizens and businesses on a nationwide level.
A commentator also shared her similar experience with permits needed for a funeral last week, where people still ended up parking, arguing that they had the right to since permits don’t mean anything.
