‘Let’s Do One Last Bike Ride’: Jake Vella To Be Remembered With Final Farewell Ahead Of Funeral
The beloved Jake Vella will be remembered through a farewell bicycle ride being organised by the Malta Mountain Bike Association ahead of his funeral this Saturday.
Cyclists across Malta are being called to join the ride in honour of the 15-year-old boy, who sadly lost his life after battling a rare and challenging health condition.
Despite his condition, Jake was well known for his unwavering passion for triathlons, leaving a mark on everyone he encountered, and becoming one of the most inspiring people of the nation.
In line with his parents’ wishes, the ride will kick off at 8:30am from Mater Dei Hospital, where Jake lived for over a year, and will conclude at Birżebbuġa Parish Church, where his funeral is set for 10.30am.
The Malta Mountain Bike Association has rallied the cycling community for this special ride, urging everyone to join in, saying “Let’s do one last bike ride for beloved Jake.”
Traffic enforcement officers will be present on the day to ensure a safe journey along the route.
Jake battled ROHHAD, a rare neurological condition, with incredible strength and determination. Never letting it define him, he channeled his energy into organising swimming challenges and other sporting events to raise funds and awareness for abandoned animals and various causes close to his heart.
