To celebrate the launch of ors, a unique picture book for adults by Maltese artist and author Miriam Galea, a book signing is set to be held at Malta’s upcoming Book Festival.

The book signing will be held on Saturday 9th November at 6.30pm at the Kotba Calleja stand during the Malta Book Festival at MFCC Conference Centre in Ta’ Qali.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to view original artwork from the book, adding a special dimension to Galea’s latest creation.

Published by Kotba Calleja, ors tells the story of a melancholic bear and a ghostly figure who cross paths and embark on a silent journey through urban and natural landscapes, mirroring each other’s sense of isolation.

This contemporary fairy tale explores themes of loneliness, connection, and the longing for companionship, making it a thought-provoking read for adults while still accessible to younger audiences.

Galea’s evocative illustrations, created in pencil, acrylic, charcoal, and chalk, accompany the concise and poetic narrative, bringing a dark yet whimsical tone that captures the reader’s imagination.

In addition to the book signing, ors will be featured in the “From Illustration to Book” exhibition and in the Malta Community of Illustrators Annual, both launching at the Malta Book Festival.

The book will be available for purchase at the Kotba Calleja stand throughout the festival, from 6th to 10th November, as well as online at kotbacalleja.net.

Miriam Galea is a multi-talented artist, writer, and translator based in Brussels. A graduate of English and Art from the University of Malta and Illustration from Ateliers St Luc in Brussels, Galea’s work spans visual art, literature, and theatre.

She has participated in numerous exhibitions and her writings have been featured in several Maltese anthologies. Galea is also known for her political cartoons, some of which have been published in The Times of Malta and the collection The Third Siege of Malta.
