Malta is prepared for a larger earthquake and has all the necessary equipment needed, the Civil Protection Department Chief Assistance Rescue Officer has said.

Speaking with journalists on Tuesday, Anthony Pisani said that the CPD is “prepared and well-equipped” for any possible scenario, even earthquakes with a more significant impact than the ones experienced in recent weeks.

He revealed details on a recently acquired apparatus of recent technology, which can be used both for earthquakes and other disasters, such as fires and building collapses.

However, Pisani made it clear that there is currently no cause for alarm but that, it’s always good to know what you need to do in the case of a larger earthquake.

He continued to provide insight on what one should do if a larger earthquake hits, which includes taking shelter, staying wherever you are, and making sure you do not position yourself somewhere where large furniture could fall on you.

He also advised that people should create a first aid box in the case of evacuation, including medicines and any required items.

Just last night, the islands of Malta registered another 5.2 magnitude earthquake, which was widely felt across a number of localities.

Lovin Malta recently published a guide on the three main steps to keep in mind in the case of an earthquake. Check it out here.

Have you felt any of the recent tremors?
