Malta Is The Ninth Most Googled Travel Destination Of 2023
The sunny island of Malta has made it to the list of the most googled travel destinations of 2023, scoring ninth place out of 10.
Google published its Year in Seach data report showing what users have googled over the past 12 months and the major travel magazine CN Traveller got an exclusive look at the travel section of the data where Malta was sitting comfortably as the ninth most googled country in all of 2023… impressive.
“This island is a hit European destination. Its history runs deep, and its beauty runs deeper,” the article reads.
“The country has been used as the backdrop for many iconic films and TV series (Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Troy to name a few), but beyond its honey-hued streets lie restaurants, bars, and hotels waiting to be explored. Find out more about why we love Malta, or start planning your trip with this guide to Valletta’s best restaurants.”
The island appeared on the list alongside nine other beautiful countries including Morocco, Egypt, Thailand, Cyprus, Croatia, Portugal, Italy, Spain, and the number one – Greece.
This coincides with 313,705 inbound tourists in Malta in October 2023 – a 31.1% increase from the same month of the previous year.
However, Malta unfortunately did not make it on the Traveller;s 24 Best Places to Go in 2024 list.
Do you agree with Malta’s placing?
