Malta Not For Sale: Activists Urge Public To Attend Castille Conference Against Privatisation Deals

Activist group Moviment Graffitti is urging the public to attend a press conference outside Castille this week, during which they will present an open letter to Cabinet against the privatisation of state assets.
This comes after a landmark court ruling which annulled the Steward-Vitals contract that led to the privatisation of three local hospitals.
“Join us on Tuesday 21st March at 6.30pm, in front of Castille, where Moviment Graffitti and other socialist, leftist, or progressive organisations and individuals will be presenting an open letter to Cabinet,” Graffitti said, announcing the rally.
“No more deals that benefit the few at the expense of the many. No more public assets handed over to private interests. Malta is not for sale.”
“The judgement nullifying the shameful deals that saw three state hospitals enter private hands confirmed what many have known all along – that we, the public, have been scammed, defrauded, and outright robbed by an international criminal conspiracy with the help of members of our own government.”
“This is not the only instance where this has happened. Public land in Pembroke and Bormla has also been given away to line the pockets of the few, as has our energy.”
“In each of these deals, the same names keep popping up. Konrad Mizzi. Keith Schembri. Joseph Muscat.”
As a result, activists are demanding an investigation into all the deals these people were involved in, restitution of the money given to VGH and Steward and reparations for their fraud, and an immediate stop to all privatisation deals currently being conducted.
