During a bilateral meeting with the Fishing European Commissioner, Malta proposed a pilot project that sees the lampuki season moved to July.

The dolphinfish, or as known in Malta ‘lampuki’, season usually opens in mid-August and ends in December.

“The project is being proposed in order to better understand the patterns indicating where the ‘lampuki’ seem to be passing earlier in the Mediterranean, also due to climate change,” wrote the Parliamentary Secretary for Fishing, Agriculture and Animal Rights, Alicia Bugeja Said on social media.
