Malta Public Transport Unveils Bus Wrap Inspired By Students’ Vision For A Sustainable Future

Malta Public Transport, in collaboration with the Malta ESG Alliance (MESGA), has unveiled a uniquely wrapped electric public bus featuring a painting that reflects the vision of Maltese and Gozitan students towards a sustainable future for the country.
“We are honoured to display this artwork on a public transport bus, a powerful symbol of the younger generation’s call for action. Sustainability is one of our core values, and we are committed to supporting initiatives that bring people together around these essential goals,” said the General Manager of Malta Public Transport, Konrad Pulé.
The artwork, created live by artist Joe Farrugia, is based on the collation of ideas shared by the Consultative Council for Future Generations, at MESGA’s Isimgħuna Event, where over 500 students from 42 schools participated. The painting reflects their collective call for urgent and united action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The artwork will now be featured on a Malta Public Transport bus during the months of July and August, helping to carry their message across the country.
Malta’s youths used the Isimgħuna Event as their platform to voice concerns, aspirations and recommendations for a more inclusive fair and environmentally responsible Malta. During the event, the students addressed key themes like climate action, poverty and inequality with country leaders including the President of Malta, the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.
The original painting, that was used for the bus wrap, is being exhibited in schools and at the offices of MESGA member organisations. The aim of the exhibition in different places is to create a space for dialogue and to inspire further action on the SDGs across different sectors and generations of society.
Malta Public Transport and MESGA are both committed to advancing the SDGs in the local scene, with this initiative serving a sobering reminder that everyone in society has a stake in building a better future.
“Young people are not only aware of the global challenges we face but are also deeply invested in being part of the solution. This artwork embodies their creativity, concern and determination. Through this collaboration with Malta Public Transport, we are ensuring their voice continues to be heard and seen across the country,” said Chairperson of MESGA, David Xuereb as he complemented the students’ activities for Malta’s future.
