Malta Ranks Top 10 Worst Destination For Expats
Malta has ranked as one of the top 10 worst destinations for expats in the world, falling below the UK and Ireland.
The island nation ranked 46 out of 53 in InterNations’ list which is based on data from surveys of 12,500 expats from around the world. They were questioned on quality of life, ease of settling in, working abroad, personal finance and expat essentials to determine how easy it is for expats to settle in a country and build a life there.
Last year, Malta had the same ranking.
The list reminds readers that the rankings are not based on facts but rather on how expats in the community feel about the topic. For instance, it can’t say how safe a country is but it can indicate how safe expats feel in that country.
When this statistic was shared with the Facebook group “Expats in Malta”, many took to the comments to express their reaction. Some emphasised that this list is purely subjective because it depends on what expats are looking for in a country to settle while others criticised the list for having third-world countries at the top and European countries at the bottom.
