Malta Registered 49 Rape Reports In 2023
The Malta Police Force registered 49 reports of rape for the whole of 2023, Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri said.
Camilleri was responding to a parliamentary question issued by PN MP Ian Vassallo who asked for the numbers of the previous year.
The question was submitted on 2nd January while the response was issued just yesterday.
These numbers equate to almost four rapes per month, which is quite a significant amount considering Malta’s small population. It must also be noted that not all rapes are reported to authorities due to a number of social and cultural factors.
