Malta’s First-Ever Equine Sport Festival Is Happening This Weekend At Montekristo

If you’ve ever been fascinated by horses, this weekend Montekristo is the place to be.
For the very first time, EquestriMalta, the national body that supports and promotes equestrian sport, is hosting Festa Żwiemel, the Equine Sport Festival, bringing together tradition, sport and a whole lot of horse power.
The festival kicks off Saturday 4th October at 6pm and continues on Sunday 5th October from 9am till late afternoon.

What To Expect
This isn’t just your average fair. Visitors can look forward to:
-
Thrilling polo matches featuring Malta’s two clubs – the Island Polo Club and the Malta Polo Club.
-
A packed Sunday morning programme by the Malta Equestrian Federation.
-
Breathtaking horse shows, including traditional carriages, musical performances and displays of horses with different abilities.
-
Polo simulators (Roda Polo) – the very first of their kind in Malta.
-
A pony zone for kids to enjoy.
-
Exhibitions and stalls showcasing horse-related crafts, products, and services.

And, keeping with age-old custom, there will also be the traditional blessing of horses on Sunday morning – a spectacle that blends Maltese heritage with equestrian culture.
A Festival For Everyone
Whether you’re a horse enthusiast, a polo fan or simply looking for a unique family day out, this festival promises something for all ages. With free entrance, a large turnout is expected for what is set to be a landmark event for Malta’s equestrian community.

So saddle up and get ready, Malta’s horses are about to take centre stage.
