Malta’s UN Ambassador En Route To Gaza Border To Be Briefed On Humanitarian Aid Delivery
Malta’s UN Ambassador Vanessa Frazier landed in Egypt earlier this morning as part of her route to the Rafah crossing that borders Gaza.
Here, she will be briefed on the delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza as well as the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 2712.
This is a Malta-drafted resolution that was approved at the UNSC and calls for urgent and extended humanitarian pauses in Gaza as well as the immediate release of hostages.
Just last week, a humanitarian pause was implemented, extended, and ended through which several hostages in Gaza and prisoners in Israel were released.
Frazier spoke with Lovin Malta in an exclusive interview where she said that the possibility of Hamas becoming a legitimate political force – as has happened in other conflicts – cannot be discounted.
Moreover, the Rafah crossing is the only border through which Palestinians can escape from Israel’s wrath and it has been used during the conflict as a passage for humanitarian aid. However, it isn’t always open and asylum-seekers aren’t always welcomed on the other side.
What do you make of her visit?
