Malta’s UN Ambassador Meets Israel’s Prime Minister To Discuss War With Hamas And More
Malta’s UN Ambassador Vanessa Frazier met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the war with Hamas earlier today.
“Meeting with PM Netanyahu we discussed West Bank unrest, the implementation of Malta’s United Nations Security Council resolution 2712 especially the need for an effective deconfliction mechanism for the safe and unhindered flow of humanitarian aid into and throughout Gaza, the phases of the war on Hamas, hostage release and importantly the day after solutions,” Frazier wrote on Instagram, captioning an image of her shaking hands with the controversial figure.
During her stay in Israel, Frazier also visited the site of the 7th October attack.
“The visit to the Nova Festival site was very moving and emotional. Families have recently planted a tree for each one of the victims. About 300 innocent revellers were brutally murdered here by Hamas terrorist whilst about 40 were kidnapped,” she wrote, continuing the statement with the hashtags: release the hostages, ceasefire now, bring them all home.
While in Tel Aviv yesterday, Frazier met with high-level government officials and insisted they minimise civilian casualties, protect civilians, civilian sites, humanitarian workers, medics and journalists – as required by international law.
Frazier is further set to visit the Kerem Shalom border crossing, an evacuated kibbutz, and will meet with freed hostages as well as families of those still detained.
During an interview with Lovin Malta late last year, Frazier indicated that Hamas could reform in the same way the IRA did, while saying she doesn’t know this for sure, it cannot be discounted.
Last month, Frazier also visited the Gaza border where she was briefed on the delivery of humanitarian aid.
Do you think that a conclusion to this devastating war will happen any time soon?
