Maltese Photography Page Kappa Vision Hacked: ‘I’m Feeling Desperate And Helpless’

The founder of Kappa Vision, a revered local photography page documenting Malta, is appealing for help after his page was hacked.

Speaking with Lovin Malta, Jean-Paul recounted how desperate and helpless he’s feeling after his own Facebook account was disabled as a result of the hacking, which occurred last Wednesday.

“This whole hacking thing is very disturbing, and this situation is affecting my life so much that I’m hardly eating and suffering from extreme anxiety,” Jean-Paul told Lovin Malta.

He’s been running Kappa Vision for six years now, with daily updates and nearly 24,000 followers, and no help or funding from anyone at all.

“To cut a long story short, my Facebook account was hacked last Wednesday and as a result, Facebook disabled my account. I have been trying to send a review request form to appeal this decision but I cannot do that because Facebook help keeps telling me I need to log in to send it. Do you understand how ridiculous this is? How can I log in to a disabled account?”

At this point, unless the appeal reaches Meta, he will not manage to get his previous account back and his page will be deleted in less than one month.

“This is extremely unfair. My account is 16 years old, and I have been working on my page for six years daily. All this is gone down the drain unless I somehow manage to contact Facebook/Meta to review my case!”

“I am desperate. Have been trying for a week. I really feel bad and don’t know what to do or who to contact for help,” he explained.

He continued to explain how even his messenger has been blocked, so all his contacts are not managing to reach him, making him think that he blocked them.

“This situation really ruined my life. I’m angry, sad, and cannot concentrate. I am burning myself out in the gym and walking like five hours a day to get away from the stress.”

“I have been suffering from eating disorders since the age of 12 – that’s a good part of 31 years – and my photography and the success I was having with my Facebook page project kept me going even when I was in the hospital,” he said, explaining how he’s spent years in hospital.

“The hacking of my page just took that all away from me and I don’t know who to go to to help get my account re-enabled.”

The local website is pretty much centred around everything Malta – from Maltese heritage, culture, architecture, and traditions captured and brilliantly described.
