Meet Kam Willinsky, The Man Documenting The People That Shape Malta

You might have heard of Willinksy Magazine, a local online publication that strives to meet all of the people doing something for our country.

But now it’s time to meet the man behind it, Kam Willinsky, a Polish man with a deeply vested interest in shedding light on the heart of Malta’s stories.

Lovin Malta sat down with Willinsky, to hear more about his project, and who he is as the driving force behind it.

While describing himself, Willinsky sees himself as an editor, journalist, dreamer, believer and a good friend, and as someone who does things rather than talks about doing them.

He also takes pride in only collaborating with Maltese brands, expressing how he is in love with Malta, its’ people, food and places.

What drives the Willinsky project?

“In a way, I see that people are often not appreciated enough. Unfortunately today the content that goes viral does not serve meaningful values and those who are trying to make a great impact seem to go unnoticed.”

“I make time and space for those people who shape our Maltese Islands. Luckily today I am in a position where people know what I do and most importantly like it as well,” he told Lovin Malta.

Through his project, Willinsky does a number of features, interviews, and podcasts, all with a motivational and inspirational tone and atmosphere.

“Through every single feature, I’d like to people learn something new, listen to advice from those who made it, and get to know more about what made those people and how they did their successful projects.”

“I love honest conversations where you can see how things really are. I am open too –  sometimes readers have some additional questions and I always help as much I can – and sometimes they suggest guests – I like that people can feel part of my project too.”

Inspirations and challenges…

“Good stories, seeing people happy, discovering potential or talent that everyone has, communicating with others.”

“My platform gives people an opportunity to express themselves in a different, relaxed and honest way. I can see the positive impact that it has on people. It’s amazing!”

“A good number of people have their first interview with me – I know that this experience will be with them for a very long time. I like when people support each other rather than envy and unhealthy relationships.”

As for challenges, Willinsky did not find many that stopped him in his path, but rather, he sees them as opportunities.

“There are not many challenges really. It’s up to every single one of us to make it happen and follow our dreams. I love what I do, I only concentrate on what’s possible and what can I do next.”

“I am very positive and content – what I do makes people happy and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. It’s extremely satisfying. Opposite to challenges I see many opportunities that our islands have to offer.”

A message for Malta from Willinsky

“Keep inspiring, find what makes you special and make it your life, help if you can, share your experiences, continue asking questions and focus on the things that make you happy.”

“Life is for living. I used to say – Keep doing your best and maybe you will be next? (In terms of the feature in the magazine – if you do great things I will find you),” he cheekily said.

Willinsky also has an exciting initiative currently underway, where he is collecting signatures from influential Maltese people.

The signatures will then be auctioned, with the proceedings going towards Puttinu Cares and the Malta Community Chest Fund.
