Montenegro Narrowly Defeats Malta’s Under-19 Football Team With 2-1 Result
Montenegro narrowly defeated Malta’s under-19 national team last night during an international friendly match held at the Ta’ Qali’s Centenary Stadium.
This comes after a hard-earned goalless draw against Montenegro last Saturday, in preparation for the UEFA Euro U19 Finals in July.
All three goals in yesterday’s match happened in the opening twenty minutes, with Montenegro initially looking like the better team.
They broke the deadlock at eleven minutes when Milan Jukic curled his shot from the edge of the area, just out of reach for Malta goalkeeper Beppe Mangion.
The guests doubled on 17 minutes, punishing an unnecessary error from a dead-ball situation, with Nikola Medojevic drilling home from a Balsa Mrvaljevic assist.
Two minutes later, Brooklyn Borg reduced the arrears by beating the off-side trap and goalkeeper Benjamin Krijestarac from close-range.
Despite being beaten, apart from the opening phase, the home side controlled the match and was unlucky not to equalise during the second half, in which they had clearly an upper hand over the guests from the Balkan.
