One of the Msida breeder’s dogs involved in a recent late-night attack was found dead under a car with stab wounds after the attack took place, a Maltese animal activist has confirmed.

Speaking with Lovin Malta, Maxine, who is a prominent animal activist, confirmed that one of the dogs involved in the attack was found stabbed by his own owner.

“The dog was found dead under the car, he was stabbed by Andre Galea himself with a sharp object,” Maxine told Lovin Malta.

“He only killed one of the dogs, and the others were eventually let back into the house. The other dogs have now all been confiscated, and they won’t be put down by Animal Welfare,” Maxine confirmed.

On Tuesday, Maxine worked closely with government officials to carry out the confiscation of the eight dogs, and she’s now praising the help she found.

“I want to say that I really found help from Ruben Montebello and Alicia Bugeja said, who made sure to confiscate the dogs in a timely manner,” Maxine said.

“The dogs were not aggressive when Animal Welfare officers confiscated them. They were only aggressive with their owner,” she said, hinting that there was some sort of maltreatment from the owner’s side.

“Ask yourselves, why did the dogs turn against him? What did he do to them? Some of the neighbours even confirmed that the dogs had been crying all day.”

She has now confirmed that all eight dogs will now be rehabilitated following assessments by trainers and vets.

Meanwhile, the confiscation of other animals, including rabbits and birds, took place earlier today, and the residence is now void of any living beings.

This comes after Galea made headlines earlier this week after he was chased out of his own house by his dogs, seeking refuge atop on top of his car after he was mauled. He is currently hospitalised at Mater Dei Hospital, suffering from grievous injuries.

Galea is also facing charges of involuntary homicide after his own grandmother, Inez Galea, was viciously mauled by his dogs in 2020.
