The Tania Flats building crumbled late on Wednesday night, just hours after 32 residents were evacuated due to safety concerns. Rubble from the collapsed building remained in the road which fully blocks access to the road.

In a statement earlier this morning, the Building and Construction Authority said that along with the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA), it continued to monitor the situation following the collapse.

At the moment, a major emergency operation is underway at Ross street in St Julian’s with several roads have been closed as authorities are working on removing hangings slabs from the collapsed building.
