‘No Mother Should Go Through This’: Roberta Metsola Embraces JeanPaul Sofia’s Mum
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola personally met with construction victim JeanPaul Sofia’s mother on Tuesday.
Uploading a photo on social media, Metsola can be seen embracing Isabelle Bonnici as she smiles out of gratitude.
“No mother should have to go through what Bonnici is going through. We are obliged to support her courage to bring justice. Justice for JeanPaul Sofia,” Metsola said.
20-year-old Sofia tragically lost his life on a construction site after a building collapsed in Kordin.
Bonnici has long been calling for justice, even sending a letter to MPs, urging them to stand up and be counted.
She said she even reached out to Prime Minister Robert Abela and had an 80-minute meeting with him at Castille but was left unimpressed at his stance.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Robert Abela has so far resisted calls from his family to open a public inquiry, warning it could clash with ongoing police investigations.
