WATCH: Vintage 1980s Footage Of Bormla Is The Best Maltese Throwback

Rejoice, 'Bongu Malta' is on YouTube!

Forget curated historical documentaries. As has been proven with recovered footage of MaltaSajf, YouTube is proving to be the access point to some of Malta's quirkiest memories.

And nowhere is this more true than in the case of the old Bongu Malta programmes. Uploaded in full, the 1985 Christmas edition is a must-see, and here are some of the highlights:

1. The man behind Simons explaining how 'avant-garde' his clothes are

Now that hipster fashions have circled back in time, he's probably on to something.

2. The appreciation of the audience

Without Likes and Shares, people had to make do with expressing their love for Bongu Malta in more traditional ways. Check out the laundry-list of appreciation that this competition winner unleashes on presenter Charles Xuereb after being handed his winning t-shirt.

3. The fashion show of the damned

You'd be hard-pressed to spot the difference between this display of Bormla high fashion and the horror films of Dario Argento: they share an era, and a look...

PS. Never mind that it would be unthinkable in this day and age -- look at all that online-outrage-ready fur!

4. Men first!

Sadly, vintage also translates to 'sexist' every now and then -- check out how Challie clean cuts off his female co-presenter.

5. And finally, the Bormla Beastie Boys
