October Marks Pregnancy And Infant Loss Awareness Month

Every October, families across the world pause to remember the little ones lost too soon, through miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death.
It’s a month dedicated not only to remembrance but also to raising awareness and offering support to grieving parents and families. In Malta, the opening of the new Early Pregnancy Unit reflected the importance of providing professional care and support for such sensitive experiences.
In Malta, support group Little Angels has been at the forefront of giving a voice to bereaved parents. They were the first to organise public remembrance locally and continue to offer a safe space of comfort and solidarity.
This year, the focus will be on Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, held on 15th October, with the powerful Wave of Light event. At 7pm, people across the globe will light a candle to honour babies gone too soon. In Malta, this tribute will take place online through the Little Angels group, with specially designed candles available for those who wish to take part.
With one in four pregnancies ending in miscarriage, the new Early Pregnancy Unit in Malta also aims to provide better care and sensitivity in these heartbreaking situations.
This October, let’s come together to break the silence, remember, and support those who carry this loss every day.
