Over 1.9 Million People Travel Between Malta And Gozo In First Half Of 2025

An increase of passengers travelling between Malta and Gozo has been recorded in 2025 in comparison to 2024 according to data published by the National Statistics Office (NSO).

In the second quarter of 2025, the total number of passengers that travelled between the two islands was of 1,927,590, whereas in 2024, the number of passengers was of 1,790,208.

The number of journeys and vehicles that made the journey have also increased by 2.8% and 7.7% respectively when compared to figures from 2024.

Between January and June 2025, the largest number of vehicles crossing from Cirkewwa was registered on Fridays and Saturdays. In Imġarr, the largest number of passengers was highest on Saturdays and Sundays.

In May, the highest number of journeys between Imġarr and Valletta, as well as the highest number of passengers were recorded for the second quarter of 2025. The number of journeys was that of 965 or 35.5% of the annual total, and the total number of passengers was that of 117,819 or 35.1%.
