Malta International Airport welcomed 1,072,390 passengers in August, making it the busiest month of 2025 so far.

The single busiest day was recorded on the 14th of August, the eve of the Santa Marija feast, when more than 39,000 arrivals and departures passed through the terminal.

Italy remained the top market, accounting for just over 21% of passenger movements, with Rome Fiumicino and Catania Fontanarossa proving the most popular destinations.

The United Kingdom followed closely at 20%, while Germany and France each made up around 8%.

Poland also broke into the top five markets for the first time, fuelled by new LOT Polish Airlines operations, alongside Ryanair and Wizz Air’s added routes.

In total, aircraft movements rose by 5.1% year-on-year, while seat load factor remained strong at 91.6%, the highest monthly occupancy rate so far in 2025.
