An old and friendly Persian cat was finally returned to her owner after being missing for over five years in Malta’s streets, showing the true dedication of the island’s cat feeders.

It all came about through a post on a popular Maltese pets’ social media platform, Rubs Puppy Love, where a man posted a photo of the cat and reported it to be roaming around the old church of Birkirkara.

He also described the Persian as “very friendly” and added that it seems to be lost.

Just a day later, the cat’s owner commented on the post, saying how the cat happens to be her’s and how she’s been missing for over five years, thanking him for the information shared.

“She’s at my home now, and will be checked by a vet tomorrow,” she wrote.

The owner also uploaded a photo of the lost cat’s twin brother, also adding that they turned 11 last March.

“I would also like to thank the person who was feeding her and other strays in the area – your dedication is amazing,” she wrote.

Such an amazing turn of events is a testament to the work that cat feeders input to help Malta’s strays, proving that without their efforts, many cats will be left for dead.
