Reserved Police Constables (RPC’s) whose contract will not be renewed for another period after elapsing on 31st December 2021 have been informed today, that this will not be renewed.

“This means that these members of the Force, have only been given a 3 days notice about the fact that they will become unemployed on 1st January 2022,” the union said in the statement.

The union emphasised that strategies, press conferences, and nice Facebook posts mean nothing when this is the reality of how officers are treated in Malta.

“They will not change the fact the Police officers have always been, and still are considered sold meat without being given their dignity,” it said.

“However, this will change as the union will not permit those who think have some ‘power’ to roll over everyone.”

It also criticised the Malta Police Force for “wasting money on useless strategies” while never learning to “respect the most important resource, its employees”.

The Union concluded its statement by promising that it will continue to “protect the interest of its members and will not permit some chosen gods to act at will”.
