Police Reports In Malta Can Now Be Done Fully Online

Police reports can now be done online with the force’s new Remote Reporting Unit (RRU).

“Now you can effortlessly file reports from the comfort of your home or workplace using the devices you’re already familiar with. Say goodbye to waiting and unnecessary trips to the station – we’re here to assist you every step of the way,” the website reads.

Through the service, people can directly communicate with a police officer online by filling out a form from the website.

Here, one has to detail what is being reported and select a date and time convenient for a police officer to contact back through Whatsapp, Google Meet, Facetime, Teams, or a regular phone call. The preferred method will be decided by the person issuing a report.

People can report lost items, damages, and other non-urgent reports. The officer who takes the report registers it in the police system, and a copy of the report will be sent by e-mail.

The Police Force reminds that in cases of emergency, one should always call on the number 112 or 119. The public will still have the option that if they feel more comfortable, go and report physically at any police station.
