Pro Gamer Complains About Maltese Hotel Room Infested With Mould And Insects
A professional Counter-Strike player has complained about health-threatening living conditions that he was subject to while heading into the ESL Pro League Season 16 playoffs in Malta.
“Hey ESL, wake up and tell your employees to remember what professionalism is, terrible communication with the teams and with this shit hotel,” Oleksandr Kostyliev, otherwise known as S1mple, tweeted.
S1mple has been described as the “world’s number one player” by Dot Esport, however he was less-than-happy with the living arrangements provided by ESL.
He even shared a photo that showed a section of a wall surrounding the ventilation area in his hotel room covered in mould.
“I never ever complained about this. I just got mad because I had two rooms, yesterday they told me that I need to check out from one room at 11am and when I woke up today, they told me to move to the same room that I checked out of yesterday,” he explained.
He even said that he woke up with ants in his bed, according to Dot Esports.
These comments were met with a response from ESL’s Senior Vice President of Game Ecosystems who said S1mple notified staff after his tweet and that there was a “fairly active” dialogue between all teams and members since the beginning of EPL.
Nonetheless, he added that they were still investigating the complaints and that S1mple was the only player to raise such issues.
This is not the first time that a Maltese accommodation was in the international media spotlight. Just last month, an Italian student made it to Rai Uno to talk about a horrific stay on the island.
Meanwhile, a similar incident saw Sliema’s worst-rated hotel was shut down by authorities after a series of incidents left residents horrified.
Have you ever been to a hotel in Malta with mould on the walls?
