Rabat Zebra Crossings Turn Pink To Raise Awareness On Nationwide Cancer Campaign

October’s first Monday saw some of Malta’s zebra crossings turn pink in a bid to raise awareness on Pink October and Movember, the nationwide campaign on the most common cancers for females and males.
The Pink Oct – Mov’23 campaign is focusing on three female cancers: breast, ovarian and cervical cancer, and on two common male cancers: testicular and prostate.
Zebras Go Pink kicked off this morning with a symbolic walk across the freshly painted pink and white zebra crossing in St Rita’s Street in Rabat.
Present for the inauguration of the campaign were Chair and Campaign Leader Michelle Muscat, Transport Malta representative Michael Cohen, and Rabat Mayor Sandro Craus.
In a statement, Michelle Muscat reiterated the importance of this educational campaign which aims to educate the public on the need to check themselves.
Apart from that, the campaign aims to teach citizens how to check themselves properly, and do the necessary screenings and tests.
Above all, it encourages people to face the fear of taking the tests in the first place, which most times, prevents them from getting diagnosed in time.
The Pink October and Movember Campaign happen yearly during October and November, aiming to raise awareness and in turn, save lives in the long run.
