“Happy Men’s Day! My work in favour of equality is also work in favour of men. In moments of need, few men seek help. Society still fails men when it comes to mental health. How can we create an environment where men feel safe to speak up before they reach a breaking point?,” wrote Buttigieg on social media.

Malta hosts the longest-running celebration of International Men’s Day, with events dating back to 7th February 1994. Originally, Malta was the only country to observe the day in February, honouring men and their contributions to society.

In 2009, the Maltese AMR Committee decided to move the celebration to 19th November, aligning it with the international date for International Men’s Day.
