Salvu Mallia Proposes Swapping Queen Victoria Monument With Statue Of Daphne Caruana Galizia
Salvu Mallia, a well-known TV presenter, scriptwriter and actor with a particularly rich knowledge of Maltese history, sparked a debate on Facebook yesterday when he proposed replacing the Queen Victoria monument with a statue of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
“How about this for provocation? If you are so set to get rid of a woman who never did anything for Malta, how about one who did?” Mallia wrote on his Facebook page together with an image of a statue of Caruana Galizia.
Most people agreed with him writing in the comments how Daphne deserves a monument with some suggesting it should be in front of Castille.
This comes after a new temporary monument of an empty chair was set up in the centre of Valletta which has alll but concealed a statue dedicated to Queen Victoria.
Do you think Daphne Caruana Galizia should have a monument in Malta?
