SEM Marks Continued Growth with a Refurbished Entrance and Record Support to Applicants

During the inauguration of the new entrance to the Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta (SEM) offices in Valletta, the Minister for European Funds and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme, Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, said that this event is much more than an inauguration, it is a celebration of the agency’s exceptional work and the results it has achieved over the years.
Between January and September 2025, SEM, together with the authorities managing EU funds, organised 27 information sessions on funding opportunities across Malta and Gozo. These sessions brought together a wide range of participants, including farmers, fishers, businesses, and voluntary organisations.
Following these sessions, SEM officials held over 400 individual meetings with clients interested in applying for EU funds, answered more than 1,000 requests for information, and assisted with the submission of around 120 applications, results that reflect the team’s ongoing commitment and professionalism.

Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi emphasised that: “SEM continues to be the human face of EU funds by providing guidance, support, and opportunities to everyone who wants to make a difference.”
He added that the agency’s work continues to strengthen trust between citizens and institutions through ongoing communication and collaboration.
The Minister also expressed his gratitude to SEM’s Chief Executive, Rodrick Zerafa, and the entire team for their continued efforts. He commended the agency for winning the 2025 Public Service Quality Award and for being awarded a National Supporting Business Award (NSBA), one which recognises outstanding initiatives supporting entrepreneurship and enterprise growth in Malta.“EU funds remain an essential tool for building a stronger, more competitive, and socially just country. Through SEM, these funds are reaching our families, businesses, and communities effectively, transparently, and sustainably,” the Minister concluded.
SEM Chief Executive Rodrick Zerafa remarked that: “This new entrance to the SEM offices reflects the way we serve everyone who seeks our services. From the very building we operate in, we aim to offer an environment of support, trust, and collaboration. We will continue working to ensure that every organisation and individual feels welcomed and empowered to make the best use of EU funding opportunities.”
